With the new school year in full swing, we can all go back to our ABC’s of mole checks.
|
For your planning purposes, I will be in Texas teaching a training course with The Air Force Wednesday, September 9th- Sunday, September 13th. I will be unavailable for much of the day due to the remote location of the training.

Skin checks can be done at Crossbridge Direct Primary Care and it is always nice if people have some ideas of new or changing skin lesions they want checked. The classic is the ABCDE rule:

The ABCDE rule is a helpful guideline for identifying a serious form of skin cancer, Melanoma.
|
What Does ABCDE Stand For?
|
|
A - Asymmetry: One half of a mole or spot does not match the other half. Non-cancerous moles are usually similar all the way around.
|
|
B - Border: A smooth, regular edge/ border is often normal. A blurred/ or smeared look is concerning.
|
|
C - Color: Normal moles are a single brownish color.
|
|
D - Diameter: Normal moles are often 6mm, and do not grow much larger than a pencil eraser.
|
E - Evolving: If the mole is changing in size, shape, or color over time; It’s likely time to remove it.
|
At Crossbridge Direct Primary Care, we can do punch biopsy, shave biopsy, cryo-therapy, or iris scissor removal ( for a simple skin tag). I will definitely send anything concerning to the pathologist, but usually I am open to send anything you find concerning for pathology review. The only thing you pay is the pathologist fee (typically around $50-60 for basic cell stains).

October Perimenopause Lecture
|

By popular demand, we will be repeating the peri-menopause lecture for ladies ( and spouses) on October 20th or 22nd ( depending on responses). Please fill out the interest form below and we will email more details in the next few weeks. You are also welcome to bring a friend, co-worker or spouse.

Starting at age 42, and typically concluded by age 55, females will experience some symptoms of perimenopause. Ranging from severe to minor, I hear about these symptoms frequently. Our goal is to provide some education on the topic and offer safe options for treatment, not just the same old, ‘It’s just part of getting old’ conversation.
|
This is a free educational event for all our Crossbridge DPC members and extended to our friend and family community on Tuesday , October 20th at 6:30 pm or Thursday October 22nd at 6:30 pm. Just fill out the google form to let us know which session and how many attendees. I know interest is very high on this topic. Men are invited as well since perimenopausal symptoms can impact relationships on many levels. This is NOT for kids to attend, sorry!

We will address supplements, HRT (Hormone replacement therapy) both topical and oral, current best practices vs old data, as well as good lifestyle changes as you or a loved one moves closer or into this stage of life. There will be some time for questions afterward; however, education will be the goal.

SPOT of TEA
|

1 part Dried Apple Chunks
|
|
Mix together Dry Tea ingredients and use 1 heaping teaspoon in strainer. Steep for 3-5 minutes in 6-8 oz 160 degree water. Remove Strainer.
|
Meanwhile, heat the apple juice for 30 seconds in the microwave. Combine the tea and the hot apple juice
|
|
This tea is warm apple fall goodness in a cup.
